Learn how to make a DIY concrete planter with our helpful video!

DIY Concrete Planter Project for Modern Backyard Style

Concrete accents are a stylish and durable way to elevate your backyard space. If you're looking for a simple project that adds a modern touch, this DIY concrete planter is the perfect place to start. With just a few materials and a little creativity, you can design a concrete planter that fits your outdoor style.

Customize Your Concrete Planter

This project is incredibly versatile. You can customize the size and shape of your planter to match your space. For our planter, we used a large Home Depot bucket as the mold, but you can use a smaller or differently shaped container to create a look that works for you.

Whether you prefer tall planters for statement pieces or small ones for tabletop arrangements, this DIY project can be adjusted to suit your needs. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different finishes, paint, or texture for a unique look.

How to Get Started

  1. Choose your mold (bucket, box, or container of your choice).

  2. Mix your concrete following the manufacturer’s instructions.

  3. Pour the concrete into your mold and allow it to set.

  4. Once it’s cured, remove the mold and smooth the surface if needed.

  5. Add your favorite plants and display your new planter in your backyard or on your porch.

Show Off Your Style

The best part about this project? It’s completely customizable. Whether you make one planter or several, you’ll have a unique, handmade piece to complement your outdoor space. And with the durability of concrete, your planter will last season after season.

We’d love to see your finished planters! Share your photos and tag us to show off your DIY skills and creative green thumbs.
