Tuff Shed She Shed Takes the Spotlight on The Today Show at Rockefeller Center

July 17, 2017 | newsworthy

A small, charming house with flower boxes and a tiny porch, set in an urban area with modern buildings in the background.

This specially designed TR-800 appeared on The Today Show!

A Tuff Shed She Shed stole the show at Rockefeller Center, featured on The Today Show. Discover the story behind this national spotlight and birthday surprise giveaway.

We’ve seen our buildings in some pretty incredible places—but Rockefeller Center in New York City? That’s easily at the top of our list. One of our custom Tuff Shed She Sheds recently made its national debut on The Today Show, proving once again that a Tuff Shed is a great fit just about anywhere—even live on TV.

The day of the show was a flurry of excitement and behind-the-scenes action. Our team was given access to start setup just after midnight, so at 12:01 AM, the work began. Unlike our usual on-site builds, this She Shed was pre-assembled at our Louisville factory and transported directly to 30 Rockefeller Plaza.

The featured shed was a 7×12 Sundance Series TR-800, customized with:

  • A residential-style front door

  • A dormer for extra charm

  • An upgraded 10/12 roof pitch

  • Finished interior with lap siding and laminate flooring

Cozy porch with wicker seating, pink hydrangeas, and an American flag. Hanging light fixture and potted plants add charm.

Once the She Shed was positioned on the plaza, interior designer Jacin Fitzgerald added the final touches with a Northeastern Nautical theme. All the décor used in the She Shed is available from The Home Depot.

While it looked stunning in the heart of NYC, we knew it would look even better in someone’s backyard. So, The Today Show, in collaboration with Tuff Shed and The Home Depot, selected one lucky audience member to take home the She Shed and all its contents.

That lucky winner was Marti McKeon Townsend from Knoxville, TN. During her time on the show, Marti shared how her husband had taken over the garage, backyard shed, and a Man Cave—so now, it was finally her turn. To top it off, Marti was celebrating her birthday in New York that very day. Talk about a memorable birthday surprise!
